A typeface that strengthens our identity

We are proud to present Naqinnivut, Greenland’s first custom-designed typeface, created exclusively for the Air Greenland Group. This new typeface is the final puzzle piece in our visual identity, uniting our branding across all platforms and positioning us as a modern, forward-thinking global organization.

Naqinnivut is the result of a carefully guided design process led by Air Greenland’s marketing team in collaboration with Tobias Røder and his team, the creators behind our logo and other key visual elements. This typeface honors the unique characteristics of the Greenlandic language while meeting the functional and aesthetic needs of a global brand.

Greenlandic Language as Design Inspiration

Greenlandic, based on the Latin alphabet, is defined by its long and complex words that combine multiple roots and affixes. The design process emphasized readability and balance to address these linguistic traits.

A special focus was given to the letter “I”, a critical element in Greenlandic typography due to its high frequency. Its design ensures clarity and visual harmony across all sizes. The font’s “g” takes cues from Air Greenland’s iconic logo, anchoring the typeface within the group’s visual identity. These elements, combined with careful attention to rhythm and structure, create a design that respects both form and function.

Tailored for versatility

Designed with international adaptability in mind, Air Greenland group, – Naqinnivut supports German, Icelandic, and Faroese characters, making it ready for multilingual applications. This versatility ensures that it can meet diverse typographic needs while maintaining a consistent brand identity.

To accommodate diverse design needs, Naqinnivut comes in two weights:

Bold: For attention-grabbing headlines.
Regular: For clean, readable body text in print and digital media.
